Aspiring Administrator Academy

Purpose

Texas City ISD has many strong assistant principals and classroom teachers who are aspiring to become a part of the campus administrative teams. To create a strong internal leadership pipeline and meet the diverse needs of our district, Texas City ISD has implemented an Aspiring Administrator Academy.

Who

This academy will provide opportunities to current assistant principals, deans, counselors and classroom teachers to build on their current skill set and prepare them for principal or assistant principal role within TCISD. A maximum of 15 participants per year will be accepted into each program.

What

Throughout the school year, participants will enage in monthly professional learning sessions facilitated by internal and external experts. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in job-embedded shadowing of a current assistant principal or principal. Participants will engage in “problem of practice” project relevant to the demands of a building level administrator.

When

Aspiring Assistant Principal Academy will be held once a month on Saturdays from 9–11 a.m. in the Texas City ISD Simpson Education Support Center Board Room on September 10, October 18, November 12, December 10, January 14, February 11, March 4, April 15, May 12 and June 10.

Aspiring Principal Academy will be held once a month on Mondays from 4:30-6:30 p.m. in the Texas City ISD Simpson Education Support Center Board Room on September 12, October 10, November 14, December 12, January 9, February 13, March 6, April 10, May 8 and June 12.

Eligibility & Application

Aspiring Assistant Principals

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a teacher
  • Letter of recommendation from current principal
  • Completed application
  • Letter of interest
  • Hold or pursuing a standard principal certification (TExES Principal 268 and PASL)

Download the Aspiring Assistant Principals Application and return it to Director of Secondary Education Dr. Randy Willison or Director of  Elementary Education Andrea Zepeda no later than August 31, 2022.

 

Eligibility for Aspiring Principals

  • Currently serving as an assistant principal or dean
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as an assistant principal/dean
  • Letter of recommendation from current principal
  • Completed application
  • Letter of interest
