TCISD campuses are open Monday through Friday at the following times:

• Blocker Middle School, La Marque High School and Texas City High School: 7:15 a.m.-2:50 p.m.
• All Elementary campuses (Guajardo, Hayley, Heights, Kohfeldt, Roosevelt-Wilson and Simms): 7:55 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
• Calvin Vincent Early Childhood and Levi Fry Intermediate: 8:25 a.m.-4 p.m.
• Giles Middle School: 8:35 a.m.-4:10 p.m.
• Woodrow Wilson DAEP: 7:25 a.m.-3 p.m.

Every child in Texas City ISD receives breakfast and lunch at no cost. This is possible through the Community Eligibility Provision and eliminates the collection of meal applications for free, reduced-price and paid student meals.

Lunch is provided to all Texas City ISD students at no cost. Cafeteria menus can be accessed via our Nutrition Services page at https://www.tcisd.org/departments/nutrition-services. Parents may also load additional funds for other food purchases to their child’s account via a link on the page.

If a student becomes ill during the school day and the school nurse determines that the child should go home, the nurse will contact the parent.

School nurses will administer medication in accordance with state regulations and with physician and parental approval. Please complete the medication authorization for (available from the school nurse) and bring medications in the original, labeled packaging. Download our Health Handbook for additional information.

When your child is ill or will not be at school for any other reason, please contact the front office to let us know that he or she will not be attending that day. A parent needs to provide an explanation for any absence upon the student’s arrival or return to school. The student should submit a note signed by the parent. The campus may accept a phone call from the parent but reserves the right to require a written note.

Advanced notice is best but if a situation occurs where you need to take your child out early on the day of, please follow campus protocols for an early dismissal. For information about attendance requirements and what qualifies as an excused absence, please refer to our student handbook, which can be found at www.tcisd.org/families-students/handbooks.

The Texas Education Agency has stated that no student should be absent more than 10% of an academic year.

Parents and guardians can keep up with their child's grades in our Skyward Family Access program. To access the program, visit www.tcisd.org/families-students/skyward-family-access.

If your child must bring a cell phone or other electronic communication device to school, it should remain powered off and/or in your child’s backpack during the school day. On occasion, a teacher may give special permission to utilize personal electronic devices during class time for research or other interactive instruction, but all such instances will be communicated. Please review our student handbook for more information.

Yes, students access the internet for classwork, homework and school-related research under the supervision of our staff. We require all students to abide by our Acceptable Use Policy, and expect them to behave responsibly on school computers and networks.

Yes, and student parking is available with a parking permit that is available for purchase from your student’s campus. However, students may not drive any time during school hours including class breaks and lunch periods. Also, students may not sit in their vehicles during the lunch period.

Weather conditions are unpredictable and will cause us to close school earlier that the scheduled times or cancel classes altogether from time to time. We will notify all families using our mass notification system with important school closing and delay information. You may update your contact information by calling the school office.

In addition to a phone call, school closing or delay information will be posted on the district’s website and social media channels, as well as shared with local media.

We strongly encourage your involvement. Please take the time to introduce yourself to your child’s teacher(s) and let them know that you’re interested in getting involved. All volunteers are required to complete a background check, which can be found online.
