Texas City ISD recently opened a new STEM and Robotics Center for K–12 students. Designed by Pfluger Architects and built by Bartlett Cocke, the project transformed a vacant storage building into a STEM hub for education and competitions.
The facility includes an open arena for robotics events, a control room for video and audio management, a fabrication lab for metal and woodworking, classrooms, and a maker space for elementary students.
Marathon Petroleum Corporation donated $1 million and collaborated on the building’s design and STEM-focused curriculum. Additional funding came from a $158.6-million bond passed in 2022. Superintendent Dr. Melissa Duarte praised the community’s support, calling the center a catalyst for creativity and critical thinking.
