Gifted & Talented Education

Texas City Independent School District provides a gifted and talented program for students who meet specific identification criteria.  This program challenges students who perform or show potential to perform at remarkably high levels of accomplishment in the academic areas of mathematics, language arts, science, and social studies.

The process of identifying students for the G/T program will begin in November. Kindergarten students will be identified and begin services in the spring of 2023.  All other identified students will be placed into the program starting in the fall of 2023.  Information is collected for each nominated student from multiple sources.  Both objective and subjective assessments are used to determine individual academic eligibility.  Measures that will most likely elicit the strongest student performance and ensure the fair assessment of students with special needs will be used.

Student nominations will be accepted until October 31, 202. Students may be nominated by peers, teachers, parents, counselors, administrators, themselves or other interested persons. Nomination forms may be obtained through the counselor's office on each campus or on this website via download.

If you have questions concerning the G/T program, please contact your child’s counselor.
