Facility Demolition & Furniture Sale
In order to be a good neighbor and contribute to the City of La Marque's beautification efforts, abandoned and dilapidated buildings that once were used in La Marque ISD are being demolished since they are no longer serviceable.
After Texas City ISD conducted architectural and engineering studies, it was determined that it would not be fiscally responsible to invest money in repairs to these aging buildings. Many of the former schools have been vacant and neglected for years.
Demolition is set to begin April 10 for Highlands and Simms elementary schools and the former LMISD teacherage on Laurel. In May, the old junior high, Inter-City elementary and Lincoln buildings used most recently as maintenance and storage will be razed. In June, the building at Lincoln that at one time housed Head Start will come down. Asbestos abatement at each facility has to be complete before any demolition can take place.
There is a limited number of a variety of plastic chairs, metal desks and tables (circa 1980s and beyond) that are available for sale starting at $5 each. Interested parties can view pictures on the website and call Monica at 409-916-0000 to make arrangements for pick up and payment.
