"Parents are an important member of the Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee and have a particularly important role in helping students during the transition process from high school into the world of adult activities. The better you understand the transition process, the better able you will be to help your student design a high school program that will facilitate the attainment of identified post-secondary goals". Schools and community agencies must work together to provide transition services to students with disabilities.
All students serviced by special education must have a transition plan in place by the time they are 14. TCISD starts this process when students are 13 before or on the day of their annual ARD meeting. Your feedback is important in planning for the success of your child. Please take time to complete the annual survey. This information will be included in your child's transition supplement and used to assist the ARD Committee in providing you with appropriate agencies for potential additional support.
